What is the scariest code you have ever seen? by Ashok Agarwal

Answer by Ashok Agarwal:

To answer your question, I would pick Malbolge programming language.

Here’s the code for “Hello World!”

 (=<`#9]~6ZY32Vx/4Rs+0No-&Jk)"Fh}|Bcy?`=*z]Kw%oG4UUS0/@-ejc(:'8dc

Appears to be all special characters and gibberish, right? Here’s what Wikipedia says about this language:

“Malbolge is a public domain esoteric programming language invented by Ben Olmstead in 1998, named after the eighth circle of hell in Dante's Inferno, the Malebolge. Malbolge was specifically designed to be almost impossible to use, via a counter-intuitive 'crazy operation', base-three arithmetic, and self-altering code.

Malbolge was so difficult to understand when it arrived that it took two years for the first Malbolge program to appear. Indeed, the author himself has never written a single Malbolge program. The first program was not written by a human being: it was generated by a beam search algorithm designed by Andrew Cooke and implemented in Lisp.”

Here’s another example of Malbolge. It takes input from user (string) and prints it on screen.

Malbolge is an esoteric programming language. An esoteric programming language (sometimes shortened to esolang) is a programming language designed to test the boundaries of computer programming language design, as a proof of concept, as software art, as a hacking interface to another language, or as a joke.
